The just concluded Africa Union(AU) meeting was a complete failure. African leaders left the key issues in Africa to discuss a not so important issue as the United States of Africa.

The just concluded Africa Union(AU) meeting was a complete failure. African leaders left the key issues in Africa to discuss a not so important issue as the United States of Africa.

Key issues like the fight against HIV/AIDS, solving the Darfur crisis, tackling the poverty invasion, strengthening democracy and good governance, developing solid IT infrastructure and better economic integration in Africa were left on the background while political integration which for many years to come will remain a hopeless mission was put on top of the agenda.

The fact remains that until these key issues are dealt with political integration will not happen. Africa is too different presently for political integration. African leaders should focus on building better economic ties.

They shouldnot spend tax payers money on debating such hopeless issues as the United States of Africa.
